Top of the world!

Today starts Half Marathon #2 training! I'm Switching some days around this week because it will be hard to get my run in this weekend. So I'm doing 3 miles today and Wednesday and 4 miles on Friday. This week I'm also going to try to get in my last 5 days of the 30-day shred (more like the 90-day shred for me) so that I can start my next challenge: The Brazil Butt Lift. Don't laugh, but I want my butt to look fabulous and I totally fell for the infomercial. These DVD's will be my cross training during the next 3 months of training. I tried one a couple months ago and couldn't walk well for days so I will go easy on myself this time.

At the beginning of July I started a new med (ortho tri cyclen) and almost immediately my weight shot up 12 lbs. I lost 9 lbs of it last couple weeks, but was still up 3 lbs on Friday... then this morning I stepped on the scale and was 5 lbs down. I have been really enjoying my food and not tracking calories much lately. It's nice to know I can maintain this way, but I really need to get back into tracking so that I can get below 200 soon.

I'm going to be (gulp) thirty years old in 34 days. I couldn't imagine a better way to enter my 30's though. I feel like a girl who has it all lately: My son is amazing and growing into such a wonderful young man. My boyfriend is the most genuine, caring man who supports me in everything I'm trying to achieve in life. I have great family and friends who have always had my back. I have a great job that keeps me challenged and pays the bills. Running is becoming addicting and something I love to do.

With all that happy, mushy stuff said... I still have a lot to accomplish in the next 34 days. I'm not going to accomplish everything on my list, but I plan to give the important ones a good shot. Some of the ones I definitely want to accomplish are:
  • Run entire 10K without stopping (I'm positive I did this during the half, but it's not documented so I want to do it again)
  • Don't drink soda (still going strong on this one)
  • Do 1 (or more) real push up (ugh...)
  • Hold a bird (God help me)
That's all for now. I will update in the next day or so about how my training runs are going.

The Color Run Completed!

Yep, still alive over here. I cannot believe it's been over a month since I last posted. I haven't had a lot to say, regarding my weight loss, and have been staying very busy with Braylon and someone else. ;) I signed up for the Columbus Half Marathon that will take place on Oct 21, 2012 and will begin training next Monday. I'm already pretty much doing the week 1 training over and over again (3 miles, every other day) to work on my pace. I plan to update my training tab on the blog with the updated schedule and will surely have a lot more to blog about then.

Saturday i did the color run in Columbus. I drove up Friday night with Amy, Michelle and our friend Maria. We stood in a very long line at the expo and then went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner before heading back to our hotel. When we woke up Saturday, we planned to get to the race an hour early--and it's a good thing we did! The amount of people was insane for a 5k (I later heard there were over 12,000 people there)!

This was the view behind us waiting to start - and there was still a huge line of people in front of us, too!

Showing off our face tattoos and white shirts before the race started!
I had the privelge of meeting a reader, Whitney, while there. She happened to recognize me in the crowd and came up to say hi. She is amazing and I'm so glad I got to meet her!

Waiting in line - I get hyped before a race!

It was a lot of fun, but definitely something I'm OK with only doing once. The amount of people created bottlenecks at the color stations and it was difficult to run or even walk, as we were standing still for minutes at a time. It was a hard race for me to get motivated to run or try to get a personal best at so I just accepted it as a fun run and didn't worry about timing myself. With that said, I still had a blast and it was fun to get these cool after pics...

I'm pretty sure Amy got the worst of it :)

It took a few showers to completely get clean. It was really fun, though, and I'm glad I did it!
This was after being "cleaned" off by giant blowers.
